I'm interested in an old (2008) car which was advertised online.(dealer)

the DVLA website shows :

-Untaxed Tax due: 25 November 2021
-MOT expires February 2024
-Date of last V5C (logbook) issued 12 February 2015

is this anything to worry about?

Why would it be something to worry about?

If you mean a logbook hasn't been issued recently that's because traders fill out the trade part of the logbook and retain it for the new owner.
Otherwise it would add an owner everytime it goes through a dealer to be sold.

wondering why the car is untaxed since 2021? but was MOTed in 2022

Because a dealer isn't going to tax a car that's sat on its forecourt.
Likewise they will get an MOT so it's ready to sell.

It's all perfectly normal, if the car checks out OK buy it.

Ok,so does it mean the car was in dealership possession since 2021? isn’t it strange it wasn’t sold for 2 years?
Just trying to minimise risks of buying something dodgy.

It looks that way, either that or its been parked up.
Generally speaking if parked up I'd assume it had been SORNed so my guess is the dealers had it for a while as its only showing the tax expired in 2021.
Was it MOT'd last year as that may help paint a better picture as mileage will be listed.

If it's on Autotrader you can see the date it was published in the URL for the image when you click into the image. It's reversed so would read 20230802 meaning 2nd Feb 2023 amongst the start of the URL.

I meant the previous MOT, not sure where you're getting uour info from but there's free apps that will show all the previous MOTs and mileage between them, any advisories etc.
I use an app called vehicle smart.

The only question seems to be what the story of it only doing 5 miles in 2022, especially if it is a 'daily driver' type car.

(ETA: checking the reg number it seems to be the C-class coupe (the 3dr hatch one?) which could well be someone's second car)

If you google the reg it comes up with a link to carsnitch, (looks like a similar site to autotrader), I can't see anyway of determining the date of the information though.

So it was MOT'd in December 21 which was after the tax expired, and quite clearly hasn't been used since then.
I'd assume the 5 miles was a round trip to the mot test centre.

Just ask the dealer why it hadn't been used for a year, as above is could've been a second car and possibly parked up for a while before deciding to sell.
