Generally not, often described as landrover's most reliable car. Rear diff bearings can give trouble and splines can wear in front ptu leading to loss of rear drive. Generally pretty robust, designed under Ford ownership using a PSA engine shared with Ford, Peugeot & Citroën. I've owned one for 5 years, only issue has been a couple of split intercooler hoses and tailgate boot switches failing.

My dad has one a year younger and it’s needed a lot of welding and thinks a turbo has now gone. Otherwise reckons it’s a great car
