Volvo C30 instead of a Polo?

As the title suggest, thinking of a C30 instead of a 2010/11 Polo 1.4. Would be for my 23 year old daughter who is in 5th of uni. We have a 2008 Polo in the household but the newer models are mostly £4000+ for a non cat s/n and without miles way north of a 100k.

The C30’s look decent but I know little about them? Amy knowledge here?

I owned a 1.6 R Design for four years from new, in my early 20's. It was a good car but it was terribly slow.

Four years/50,000 miles and it never put a foot wrong and the interior and seats are great. I'd say that it would be miles better than a Polo and whilst I appreciate that it's a subjective thing, it looks better to these eyes, too.

This far out from them being new (they stopped making them ten years ago) I'd imagine that they've held up well enough, it's just a Focus underneath after all, so parts shouldn't be eye watering for them, either.

Thanks, good to hear. Always a gamble at the lower end of the market. Hadn’t realised they are a Focus underneath - that’s probably a good thing.

Far more interesting than a Polo I think.

Go for the C30 as it's a better car than the Polo, another car well worth a look at this price point is the 1.4T Astra GTC SRI or Sport:
