Indicator Beep

I'm getting fed up of people flashing me to tell me I've been driving for ten minutes with an indicator flashing.

I found this web site which shows you how to wire in a piezo buzzer, has anyone here done a mod to give you a warning buzzer.

Not yet but having nearly piled me Griff into the side of a car who pulled out in front of me because my LH indicator was still on when it shouldn't have been I consider this a must. The solution you highlight will need dash removal I guess, to get to the lamps. However I think I might look into running one or two wires from the flasher relay into a buzzer placed underneath the centre console - saves taking out the dash.

I think most of us griff owners have had a heart stopping moment when someone has pulled out in front.
This problem is made worse due to the indicater symble being so far over to the left.Installing a buzzer is a good idea,running the wires to the consol and installing the buzzer there makes the mod spot on. I Would be very interested in doing this mod.

I found that when I moved the steering wheel a little I could see the green indicator bulb between the rev and speedo dials clearly. Now I don't get caught out with having my indicators on for 4000 miles.

I understand the problem , but after driving many lorries that have this I get Bloody pi$$ed of with the noise at every turn.
Would you be able to hear it in a Griffith??

One of the round, bright LEDs right in front of you, between the speedo and rev counter should flash, as well as the arrow over on the left.
It is kinda noticable.
Or am I missing something?


Edited to say - ah, just seen that you both have pre cats. very nice. I take it then that the pre cat dash doesn't have the indicator LED right infront of you.

I hope not Stringbag - because its another thing not working if I have
aha, checked in the noddy guide and no, we lowly pre-cats don't have this luxury item.

My griff has the ligh flashing in front of you between the speedo and rev counter, so never had this problem, should be simple to wire up the same.

My 4.3 was like as described, are early 500's the same.

DID get a light on warning buzzer fitted, when you take the key out though

I've had 2 early 500's and they don't have a light in front of your either. (94 and 95)

I think i would rather have a bright bulb than an annoying piezo buzzer ( i nice 'tick' or 'ping' noise, but not a buzzer)

I fitted a buzzer before I went to Le Mans. Got it from a caravan place, cost about £5. It's designed to only work when you connect a trailer up but I had someone at work fiddle with it and now it works when my indicators do. It works a treat, no more driving with the indicators on.

The Sagaris has a beeper fitted to it's indicators, which is a better sound than a buzzer. It would be my choice, if I can find one.

Done it. Its only done temporarily at the minute as an experiment but I am quite happy with it.

I fitted one of these maplin piezo buzzers to each side, attaching the OS one to the light unit but it wasn't very loud so I ran a wire from the NS lights up to the speaker installed in the bulkhead and attached the piezo to the speaker, that's much louder. I dont know if it will drive me mad but for £2 and about an hour faffing it was very worth the effort.
