Zenvo announces new V12 Aurora supercar

249mph car will focus more on 'driving engagement' than headline numbers

Zenvo Automotive, the Danish supercar maker behind the bonkers TSR-S, is working on something new. No, it’s not another V8-engined monster based on its original ST1, but rather a completely new offering that takes the form of a hybrid V12 supercar. And people say twelve-cylinder engines are dying.

Called the Aurora, the new supercar will feature a ‘bespoke’ 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 mated to a hybrid system and Zenvo’s own gearbox. No mention of power and torque numbers just yet, but the company says it’ll be limited to 249mph. That’s for the more road-focused Aurora Tur (or Tour) anyway, while the ‘aggressive aero’ design of the track-honed Aurora Agil (or Agile) will likely sacrifice top speed in favour of more downforce. Either way, Zenvo says it’s far more concerned about ‘driving engagement than headline numbers’, which is seldom seen in this neck of the supercar woods.

The basis for the Aurora is a ‘modular’ carbon fibre monocoque with carbon sub frames. The aim is not only to build the Aurora on that architecture, but also a string of new models that are set to launch over the next ten years. That’s a bold statement for a company that’s only had one core production car (albeit with many variants) since its inception in 2007. However, Zenvo says it has grander ambitions of becoming a globally recognisable performance brand, recently bolstered by the signing of several ‘high-profile’ commercial partnerships.

Company chairman Jens Sverdrup said: “It is a remarkable honour to direct our growing team, as we undertake the most exciting phase in the history of the company. This car has come from the passion that runs deep in the Zenvo family and very much aligns with our ethos of ‘smiles per mile’. 2023 is going to be a truly exciting year.” It’s already off to a good start, with 30% of the 100-strong production run already spoken for. For us mere mortals, we’ll have to wait until August to see what the company’s been working on. We can’t wait.

Could be a lovely car given their abilities.

As long as they can rain in their aspirations and technology..

So that's why Shmee150 bought a Zenvo TSR-S.

I like the cars, but at €2m+ per car, they don't really appeal to me... as you can get largely the same experience elsewhere for a lot less.

I'm glad they exist though - as the designs (and the moving wing) are crazy. smile

Always liked the Zenvo concept. Car price is a bit out of my league - but just looked up where they are based & its less than 50 miles from my wife's family - so must pass by in the early summer when I am next visiting and ask for a factory tour - & wouldn't imagine it will take too long biggrin

So, it’s made of rocks and emits green smoke or am I missing something?

Pretty amazing given that Denmark has almost no history in car making let alone the sort of cars that they have made, in a country where you buy one but pay for three and with a population of 5,5mn people.
All credit to them for their ambition at this stage.

Is it just me, or when people say they're "prioritising driver engagement over numbers" and then follow that up with "ah but it will still do 250mph, and has fifteen hybrid motors, and does 0-60 before you've even thought about it" that they AREN'T doing that at all.

I think there's a lot to be said for the approach of GMA here - small, high revving NA V12, manual gearbox, and numbers that mean a normal human being could enjoy it on a normal road.

Considering they have only made 14 TS1 and variants since 2016, the chances of them making and selling these must be slim to say the least.

I believe in total they have only made 29 cars since they launched in 2006.

Cannot see why anybody would buy one over other makes.

Yet oddly, that's the first thing that's been written?

Looks like they're trying to position themselves as the new Koenigsegg. I hear there has been a massive amount of investment brought on board to achieve it, I'm certainly intrigued as to what they create. So long as it doesn't have a stupid wiggly rear wing like the one Shmee has. That's an absolute joke.
