Xc60, Audi Q5 or X5?
Discussion
Having just sold my van, looking for a replacement. I was pretty sure I'd be going back to an estate, had a fair few over the years so know what I want but....some up and coming medical procedures for the missus means maybe I need to look a bit to the future so started browsing SUV's. Never wanted one before so I bit clueless, budget isn't great at max 7k
Not bothered by what fuel
Mid size, good size boot
Not bothered by gearbox
Not stupid tax (rules out the ML which I like)
Not Range Rover
Mileage will be between 10 and 15 a year ish
So far narrowed down to
Audi q5 2.0d 170 sline
XC60 R design
X5 e70 3.0 SE
I know the budget means leggy 100k plus vehicles but not concerned too much if history good.
Any thoughts on the above ?
Horror stories on the auto's for both volvo Audi. How true?
Q5 harsh ride in sline trim ?
Haven't viewed any yet as was set on an estate, volvo is currently winning but open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance

XC60.... ignore the R design and get the SE versions. Ultra comfortable and really good on the back.
Just sold mine yesterday for £5.4k and miss it already. Sadly ULEZ crept up on us so had to get rid. Honestly they are brilliant cars and great value for money - I would get another one in a heartbeat.

Nice one. Take the MPG figures with a pinch of salt. They say they can do 50mpg, but in reality sit between 36-38
Any preferences regarding gearbox ? Would prefer a auto but unsure how good the volvo one isWith your budget in mind I'd have a good look at these.

Or if you prefer something Q5 sized then the EX30d is the pick they're also cheaper on the tax:

All of the above as well as being loaded spec wise also have the added benefit of being ULEZ/CAZ compliant too.
The other car worth a look is the Jeep Grand Cherokee:

Probably not much interest but you don't often see conclusions to these type of threads, I threw my original budget out the window after looking at way too many sheds and ended up buying a x3 f25 35d. Very pleased so far.
Nice darts, maybe what you meant to say was that you threw the budget into the next country!! That must have cost a fair bit over £7k?The X3 is great though, I do like a X5 but I'd probably go X3 if I had a choice.
Thanks, yes proper man maths prevailed lol. Was a straight fight in the end between x3 and q5 with the 3.0d, audi was losing though as I find the colours a sea of blandness, tbf alot of x3's are black or grey aswell , when this popped up in this colour it was a f
k it moment so bought it. Performance is laughingly ridiculous. Hope it treats me well
