Anyway of getting marriage details

The Irish Reg office needs more info than we have

Eric

Catholic and the marriage may have tan place between 1970 and 1975 or later

I have been told that such recent records are not in the public domain eg find my past ,and the amount of info i hve isnt enough to get a copy of th cert

Als told that getting a subscription to the local rag archive may well be the only way of finding it. Assuming that the engagement/wedding is in there!!

A visit to the town may turn up some results. You have a name so a school visit could help and so on.
School Facebook pages etc. You may find an old school friend etc that could help.

My brother found all the details, birth and death certificates of my Irish grandfather by subscribing to Ancestry.

Find a local fb for the area and ask about your relatives on there

See it all the time on the local groups where we have our place ( usually yanks asking ) but the information that comes forward is astonishing and whole family histories explained

Yes - 1970-1975 is not that long ago as regards to tracing personal records and there is a good chance that the individuals you are seeking out are still alive. Consequently, the ability to find such information on a public record will be very restricted, especially if you take into account current Data Protection legislation.

What town are you talking about?

Have found a FB page, and joined, but for some reason the request has not appeared.
No reply from the admin about this, but it does seem to be a more jobs/trade sort of site

And the town?

Have you looked at sports and social activities in the town/village? There are lots of such clubs in Ireland - especially connected with Gaelic Games.

Saw the originator of this request yesterday. Turns out it the reasons were, lets say,. a bit nefarious He asked if i could find out details about his aunt

.Turns out it was an ex from several years ago. Stopped him there and told him to jog on

You can see why more recent records aren't easily available for inspection by third parties.

My sister in law has surprised and impressed me massively by digging into and researching the family tree.

There’s no substitute for talking to people and they’re dying at a rate unfortunately.

I don’t do Facebook but I know there are whole groups devoted to it.

Use whatever source you can but be prepared to hear someone who might have a bad word to say about an ancestor lol, I love the story of one of my great uncles jumping off the boat.
