L&V just came through with the renewal quote. 30% higher with no change or claims.

Given this market moves so quickly, anyone have a good experience with a high value (60K+) Porsche insurance quote recently?

Particularly one which will take c. 10% power increase mods.

All help greatly appreciated.

Jason try Aplan, second topic on this page.
They have just given me a very good quote on my 996TT,roughly the same as L.V last year.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was planning to call them tomorrow but was sceptical of the ad.

Funny how many advertisers in major Porsche mags suggesting bespoke assessment and specialisation in performance and high-value porsches lose there nerve when a car is worth as much as a, ...well..., Porsche.

Living in the country ,with two other cars and no claims or points on any, I don't think I am that bad a risk! All seems to be computer scoring these days.

Privilege.com. Half of what L&V quoted me. If you have a SO, try putting them on the insurance as well, even if they are more likely to walk to the moon than get their hands on the keys; it usually results in a further premium reduction.

I went from L&V to Direct Line and it was half the price.

Privilege (owned by direct line) have been the cheapest for me for 8 years now on a variety of performance cars.

Every year i call around and every year they undercut everyone.

29, 9 years NCB (protected), full european breakdown, garaged, daily driver so unlimited mileage, '98 993tt worth not more than £40k, including business use: £1070

Privilege.com . . . I too got a very reasonable quote from them.

2002 996TT valued at £65k ,34years old 9years protected NCB, garaged and 8000miles per year with business use.........£800.

They reduced my premium by over £200 just by adding my girlfriend on the policy!!

Another one for directline. £1200 for 997S, 35, full NCD, living in central London. They do load for mods though - the upgraded wheels on my old 996 cost an extra £200 pa to insure.

Privilege gets my vote. Best I've found for many years.

£650 for a 996TT - but I'm an old fart!

Privilege were very high. Apparently won't stand by their renewal beating policy for cars worth more than 40K.

A lot of companies don't seem to like expensive metal. Autotorque who are meant to be very good for trackday goers can't use that policy on cars worth over 60k

Privilege were by far the best for me. £439 FC. Full no claim which I haven't protected this time as i firmly believe that is just a con, with wife on. We are both early 50's. That's on a 99 C2 Cab. Also includes 18" Turbo Alloys which although factory fitted are an option so have to be declared. £3 per year for them.

I'd changed to Elephant from Tesco on my SL500 but when I asked Elephant about the Porsche it went up to an annual equivalent of £830 Also every time I called Elephant they wanted to charge me £30 so I was very glad to have moved.

Made a couple of changes with Privilege, plate change etc, and no charge.

Mine's not worth anywhere near 60k, but has lots of mods from the "standard" car. Porsche insurance services did my best quote by far.

Egger Lawson have been good in the past, I think now under the Competition Car Insurance brand.

I also spoke to Bickley Insurance, but I was in a rush so went with my Porsche Insurance quote. They seemed pretty knowledgeable, and I'll definately give them a call for my next renewal.

Chris at Bickley is very nice, but their underwriters have really ruined the trackday insurance side of things.

When people recommend companies, would you mind adding whether or not they include trackday cover?

Thanks,

Dan

Also approximate value of car gives some perspective on who will do the bigger ticket items.

I am looking at 95K and it seriously limits the choices.

I've not found many who will cover a 70k car for trackdays. CCI only include 4 trackdays free and then its 350 a pop for each one after.

Bickley will do it, but they have a limit of 5 trackdays covered a year and its a 140 quid a time with them.

Gonna try a few more tomorrow (I've tried 7 and boy does it get tedious), but I may be forced to go with CCI.

Only 7? I went throgh 25 companies NON of which could meet my requirements for extended European travel. Now that was more than tedious. I discovered what a complete mess the British insurance industry is

Tried 10 companies now. Awaiting a few responses.

For anyone else looking to insure an expensive car with trackday usage, Peart Associates are definitely worth a call. They charge 50 quid per track day and will do expensive cars. Unfortunately they can't cover me competitively as I'm coming off a company policy and had a claim 2 years ago, which means they quote as if I have no no claims.
