Foam on top of battery

Changed the battery last night.

Couple of observations.

1) Access on a coupe with lightweight seats is very tight for the huskier gentleman. I ended up working in the boot to remove the aluminium trim piece and the holddown bolt behind the battery..

2) The two torx fasteners on the u shaped battery clamp use different size torx bits.

3) The sliding aluminium clamps are a pain. Some roughish treatment on the trim piece at the bottom of the door pillar necessary to create room to slide the clamps off.

4) (And the real purpose for posting) On my car there are a couple of pieces of random, rough cut, and very "non-Aston" looking grey foam stuffed on top of and behind the battery. Are these "factory" or something someone has jammed in (to cure a rattle, perhaps)?

I have similar foam bits, think they are "standard" AM quality parts

Battery change is always a challenge, thankfully I've only done it once and its easier on a Roadster with the roof down

I know its a costly exercise but I am going to get AM to change my battery at next service, as I know its bound to go wrong for me, so although its expensive, I know it will get sorted. If I do i will just end up in a mess!

No surprises on quality, but hey, it has purpose. 😉

Just been through the same pain. And have the same lumps of foam.

Battery strap fixings on my car were bolts, not torx.
