My dad passed away last year. so had to deal with all the banks etc .... - accounts were all moved from joint to just my mum.

Just received a letter today from their bank. It's not upset me, these things happen but mustn't t let such an opportunity pass .... my dad would have found it hilarious.

"It's come to our attention there are active accounts held with <bank> for the above deceased customer".

We note from our records it is now over six months since out last correspondence regarding the administration of the accounts.

Under the circumstances please update us with the current situation."

So, any suggests for the most humorous response is gratefully received .... I can rely on you bunch to come up with something good .....

The latest situation is that he is still deceased. If that situation changes, we will of course let you know, although I suspect you may hear about it on the national news.

Excellent, but likely to soar far over the heads of the recipients.

I'd go for a far blunter "Still dead, will let you know if the situation changes."

Agree. You may not be dealing with the sharpest tools in the box. I'd clearly reference the content of their letter or include a copy with your reply as out of context it might not hit home.

My dad would have loved this too

Forgive the slow reply but I’ve been absolutely buried recently.

PS Credit to you for your reaction to the situation, going for mischief rather than anger. What a great tribute to your Dad.

Yes. In the Bible Jesus rose from the dead at Easter. The suggestion is that the OP's father might do likewise.

We've had this recently with my late stepfather's affairs. The IRS (he was American) have been particularly useless. One correspondence asked why he had not communicated recent updates to his circumstances. I filled that box in with 'I'm dead'. I don't know if our humour will be readily received by American tax officials though.
Sorry for your loss OP, sounds like you're dealing with it in the best possible way.

My dad died last year and I sent numerous online responses in a sensible considerate way saying "I am deceased". Mainly to online services who send out surveys asking why have you cancelled our service.

I have managed to retain his email account and even after one year significant unexpected stuff continues to come in and a few acquaintances who were not aware (not happened recently).

I don't want to derail the topic but if you are dealing with a death or you expect to at some stage it is worth taking action to get hold of email passwords and also mobile phone accounts so that you can keep the accounts going which is the key to being able to manage numerous online services. Also make sure that you use the services as they sometimes expire after a period of non use. Make sure you actually use the mobile phone call and data and don't spend 3 months making WIFI Calling calls as they don't count to keeping the account going. Now everything is going 2FA you need both email and phone to login to most stuff.
