Tony

email me if you want to hear a good news story about a 450 chimaera that I've had for the past 4 months. I live in Bookham and would be happy to give you any help you need in making the transition to TVR ownership.

Ditto the above. I live in Guildford with my Chim 400. Serviced by local chap, David Batty. In 8k miles only had to change one wiper blade and take shares in Shell for personal supply of Optimax.

E-mail me off-line at jasonsmalley@hotmail.com if you want to chew over....

I live just south of Guildford and have a cerbie. Try APM to inspect and service one for you.
If you want to do the A3 at 180mph then I am your man!

Try giving us a call - we work closely with both Andy at APM and Dave Batty, although we are enthusiastic towards the products - we'll present the facts on both Chim and Cerbera in order that you can make an informed choice? If we haven't put you off by then - we'll offer you a back to back test drive!

Hey, why bother buying one at all - there must be at least a months worth of free TVR driving at no cost on this thread alone. Try a post on Tamora, Griff, Cerbie, Porker............etc as well. Seriously,. anytime you want let me know.

On another note, shortly after I got mine I had a 1 on 1 day with an ex porker man (have his card somewhere) who hired the track and skid pan etc for a few hours at Cobham - an ex army place) - no pits or supervision at all - just rolled up and went for a blast. Great fun in the wet and on the banked curves/bends. Anyone know if we could cluib togethr and just a few of us hire it????

thanks to every one for the offers - very encouraging to see evryone so keen to help after my last experience of clubs during ownership of classic jag - frightening experience with frightening people - although not as frightening as 180 down the A3!! joking aside it might be a good idea to have a mini meet somewhere local - do you guys already know each other?? it would be a good opportunity to get together and swap stories. I am leaning towards Cerbs due to hard top no leaks and 4 seats but I am really unsure wether this is completely reckless for starters or wether Chim would be better initially. Got about 20k to blow so should be able to get something half way decent I thought. I have been for a test in a 98 Chim 450 at Mole Valley but at 25k seemed a bit on the steep side to say the least! I will be in touch individually in the next couple of days - many thanks once again.

25K for a 98 Chim 450 - blooming heck. I sold my 97 450 chim 2.5 yrs ago for 21K. And it was totally immaculate. I sold mine for a song but 25K is totally taking the pee. I wouldnt pay more than 20K for a car like that from a dealer.
IMHO a chim is a good intro to TVRs. Personally if I could go back in time I would have bought a Griff 500 first. BUT the cerb always seems like another league. But whilst all TVR ownership is an up and down experience the Cerb ownership can have bigger lows (and bigger highs). I say it depends on your personality and if you are chilled and wealthy then get a cerb.

Gazzab - do you do 180mph on the A3 so that the 'bar-steward' cameras cannot 'clock' you?

Read somewhere that you have to do at least 174 to avoid the 2nd flash of the cameras

the nearer to new malden the better, I say. I reckon the loop round my road and the next road (a crescent) would make an excellent drift course. shame about the parked cars and children playing

To gazzab - I am chilled but not wealthy - however I would ask how wealthy do you need to be worst case scenario taking into consideration my usual extreme bad luck - I think what you are all saying is whatever it costs its worth it - am I right?? Any ideas re usual problems and how much to expect - or am I just being too pessimistic??
