So here I am awaiting / outsmarting my prey, unlike the hunters before me, I'm doing so from the comfort of my lounge

I heard a scratching behind my Victorian fireplace so removed it to find a jackdaw who needless to say wasn't grateful to be rescued and flapped back up to the next ledge

After several failed rescue attempts I came up with the cunning plan of screwing a keep net to the wall in the hope that he'll come down into it

He's been there 2 days and must fancy a change of scenery by now

His parents are calling from the oak tree outside

Who's going to start the bidding for the film rights ?

We tend to find the most effective solution is to make the room dark and then open up the way to freedom, doors etc, so it's the only light. Once out of the fireplace they will tend to follow that. To further aid this we have been known to stand with dark sheets to obscure any other landing places and make a little noise once it is out of the fireplace. This latter bit won't work if you are there for days mind.
Ours tend to come out after a few minutes and we have sooty wing marks on our ceiling to testify!

You need to expose the original brickwork and put a nice antique piece of wood above it to make a feature.

A cat will scare it away. (or kill it)

It's a 1940s house I just liked the Victorian fireplace so stuck it on the wall smile

Our dogs scared away the cats, one just killed a rabbit and then threw up over the kitchen floor

I was tempted to put some of it in the net

but my wife is due home soon

It's a jackdaw
Go on the roof and dangle something bright and shiny down the chimney to tempt it out.
Then post a video of you falling off the roof (without getting maimed of course)
