Have seen our local safety (my ar5e) camera van checking out a new revenue generating location thats just yards inside a 50 to 30 limit where the undergrowth has reached a height that will nicely conceal the van and is also concealing the 30 signs which really gets on my tits, it's like they deliberately don't maintain the verges to generate more cash, anyway..........

The question is, ignoring any legal implications, is there a cheap device that you could leave connected to a 12v sealed battery concealed in the undergrowth to constantly emit on a similair frequency to blot out the scamera's laser receiving function ?

Maybe if we could prevent them from using revenue only locations we could force them to concentrate on accident sites where there is a genuine need for speed enforcement.

Use that spot to deposit your unwanted broken glass and nails.

I'm only kidding. That would be very naughty and illegal. Fly tipping is not a nice thing. Speed kills. Think of the children. Save the whales.

Thought it was illegal to stop on a motorway bridge anyway - unless there is a designated parking area ie. a layby ?

Take a photo and send it to your local paper

Jammers typically emit very short, powerful IR pulses at a rate of a few MHz (for only a few seconds otherwise they burn out). I don’t think you’ll find anything cheap and off-the-shelf that does that.

However, I reckon a bank of (high speed) IR LEDs, an oscillator and some high current capacitors and switches might do the trick. An alkaline PP3 should be good for at least a continuous hour of fun

You can get laser jammers which stop the scamera laser getting a "lock" on your car and in the 10 seconds or so it takes to get a reading you have slowed down. These are totally illegal and you will get pulled over.

However, laser garage door openers are legal and do exactly the smae thing and as a benefit they can be used to operate your garage door when you get home. Remember you need one front and back!

Completely agree. Anyone using any form of jammer is risking a pull. It may be impossible to convince the BiB that a garage door opener jammed their Lidar equipment, so I reckon you would be facing a summons to prove it.

A jammer and a proper ‘automatic’ garage door opener won’t do the same thing, as I pointed out here:

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had success with such a device (offline of course).

Gooby, I think Dan was talking about a device which can be placed and hidden such that it disrupts the reading from many cars, not just your own.

Yeah guys, this is for a PERMANENTLY ON DEVICE wired up to one of those 12v sealed batteries that could be left on site for weeks on end.
