This is something I want to do in mine next year, did you drive through France or get the boat to Spain? I drove in September but the girlfriend wouldn't take the Griff.

Got ferry to bilbao then drove thru spain stopping at chinchon(just south of madrid) loads of food and drink. then ronda then malaga. loads of sunshine lovely roads and cheap fuel. 98 ron at 52p per litre. got to be done roof down and some serious motoring with great local hospility were ever you go. next year le mans again, fifth time for me just has got to be done as this is a serious petrolhead time away.

High mileage or not high mileage that is the question!
Got a 92 pre cat griff. now upto 87000 miles and going better than ever. some might say miles to high but this the fouth tvr now owned and by far the most reliable as only had to have the alternator repalced in the last 18months. anyone out there with a higher mileage griff? if so any probs or just enjoying the great pre cat noise and flames.

I'm in Leighton Buzzard (3000M in bits), and I've got a good friend in Hatfield with a Chimaera 450. Do you go to any of the local meets? Crows Nest, Tring?

Cheers, Tony

There's a guy in the Bristol club with a Pre-Cat Griff thats done nicely over 100K and its going great. High miles aren't a problem (except for resale) as long as you keep on top of any jobs. If you plan to keep the car, drive it as much as possible, enjoy it.

griifman,

What sort of cost was the ferry down to Bilbao? I have only looked up on the net but they all appear to be really expensive?

I'll be at Le Mans too, just counting down the days.

trip via ferry approx £700 thats for 2 people plus cabin, worth the money and some serious roads when over in sunny spain. loads of tunnels for the change down and blast.photos by the locals and the odd smile by the local guardia civil. worth the drive.

I did that last year,3 of us on bikes. Got the ferry to Bilbao then rode to Malaga, stayed at Nerje for a few days then came back up to Dover. Maybe it was because we were on bikes, but the Spanish were the most ignorant rude people I have ever met! Couldnt be more different to the French- they couldnt help us enough!!
Will definitely do something similar next summer though. Fancy going over the Alps this time.
