Solved the mystery of the disappearing coolant. Two new filler caps from partco. Then all i had to do was refit the radiator in the right place, not 2" back at one side, actually mount the fan, it was hanging by two cable ties, made a cowl for the fan so that it had to suck through the radiator instead of everywhere but. fitted a new otter switch whilst i was at it. Now not only am i not loosing coolant the engine temp is steady at 95C. great to be back on the road with some confidence that i will get back home.

Yep, I had this too a week before BBWF when I took it for MOT. The swan neck filler cap had let go, dumping coolant all over the dizzy cap, alternator and belt.

Snap! Mine went twang when I checked the coolant before the Cadwell meet
The replacement is a good design: the rubber seal is allowed to pivot on a steel disc, so when you twist the cap, you don't twist the seal...

Hmmm. I spent 20 quid odd on two new caps from TVR and they're not much cop. Silly me!

Anyone got a cure for petrol filler cap releasing fumes? Is there a substitute cap?

cheers!
