Had a scamera scare last week, got me thinking.

My 2001 XK8 doesn't have cruise: is it possible to retrofit the Jaguar system (the basic one, not adaptive) and are there suppliers of aftermarket systems out there ?

What's the likely cost ?

thanks all

I don't know, but a first guess at the ease of installment would be to ask if you have the cruise controls on the steering wheel. And the button by the gear stick?

But the truth would be to go out and get a newer XK with the toys as it's bound to be a couple of grand to do such work. Go on what a great excuse to go car hunting.

On an X-type, you have to replace the loom, as well as install the buttons, and reprogram the Instrument pack, and I think the engine ECU. I knew someone who tried as his local jag dealer said it was easy (they didn't know)! I have never looked at it on an XK, but I'd suspect it to be similarly intensive, therefore a 3rd party cruise control kit will be easier to fit, or buy a newer car.

I would have to agree benzedrine, I refused a very good deal on a XJ8 because it didn't have cruise control,(I drive in Europe every year and it's essential). I bought one "with" later.

If you really need it, seek out that "perfect" car and Haggle the price down, cheaper in the long run, and well worth it!
