Thanks. I didn't think linking was allowed....but yeah. I quite enjoy those videos. I think it's the third or fourth one they've done of those.

There must be a big battery in the Ariya to get so far with such a low miles per kwh figure.

Quick maths says 83.4! Is it really that big?

I think you are allowed to post links if its for genuine discussion reasons and not spam. I’ve done it a few times.

Excellent, thank you.

Aria looks like a nice car. Hard not to be impressed by the Tesla efficiency though.

I wish we’d get past the ”we have an ev, let’s see how far it goes test”. Most people don’t do or need that even in an ice.

What are suggesting otherwise, maybe just rev them up like a deuce?

There’s plenty to review a car on other than how far it goes. I am a big fan of carwow vids by the way this just seems a very tired test now that’s all.

This was better than some of the previous videos by Carwow. In particular, the state of the public charging network was flagged up - not before time.

As to the cars, it was also interesting that all of them were uncannily close to 80% of manufacturers target range in the final analysis. This is an improvement on the similar tests carried out a couple of years ago, and suggests that manufacturers are getting better usable range out of cars nowadays, as a result of constant development. In spite of its supposed greater efficiency, the Tesla also only managed 80% of claimed range, so there was actually very little between the vehicles.

Nonetheless, the issues presented with access to charging remain the biggest block to an EV at the moment in the UK, rather than outright range. On another thread, someone remarked that owning an EV is like owning an ICE car with a really small fuel tank, which is a good comparison.

It is also pretty astonishing that fairly ordinary family cars from Nissan, VW, etc are retailing at £55-65K. Other than business contract hire or leasing, I cannot see how "normal" folk possibly afford these cars.

Gets the views and engagement though - and thats the problem. Why do anything different when its the weird drag racing and range tests on EV's that get the clicks? Not criticizing Carwow, but its more down to the viewers rather than anything else.

I do. I need 280 miles reliably in adverse weather before I'll consider switching. I've just bought a new ICE but I'll be watching for stats like this over the next three years or so to see if something ticks that box and also meets my other criteria for practicality and price. The Aryia has caught my interest here.

Enjoyed this. Much better than the unwatchable drag race videos with yiannimize

But cars with very small fuel tank (8gals?) probably average 45mpg+, so have a reliable range of 360+ miles.
