Hi guys.
I after looking at a few wedges and taking a great deal of very valuable info from this site, I have decided to finally ditch the old Triumph Spitfires in favour of a wedge. Cheers for helping me spend my hard earned...

One wedge in particular has caught my attention - a red one, reg no D615 NCV. I understand it has been knocking around Bournemouth for a good few years. 51k miles with full TVR history, every mot certificate since new, file full of bills, in VERY good condition. Just needs a new syncromesh in 2nd gear and a oil pressure sender - but the for the price, it is well worth it.
Does anyone recognise or know this car or its history? - Any info would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Sounds like good provenance with this car, why not find out which garage it has been MOT'd at and go for a chat with them too.

Don't know the car I'm afraid. Gbox. is fairly expensive - budget at least £500-600 plus cost of removal, unless you diy (can be done without engine out, but tricky), plus you should renew clutch whilst its out. Oil pressure sender?? Do you mean the pressure gauge sender or the warning light sender? Fairly easy to change, so why hasn't the owner done it? I would suggest caution until you're satisfied that the engine has good oil pressure.

Cheers for the advice guys . I am confident this is not a shed - there is even an invoice with the car from a TVR specialist - the current owner paid £7600 2 years and 4k miles ago. I am getting this for a lot less than half of that. I have spoken to the garage who supplied the car 2 years ago and they do remember it and state the previous owner was a real "anorak" and left nothing to chance and kept it in pristine condition. The current owner has just gone and brought a... Tamora? - so he must be happy with the brand.
I was just curious if anyone one this site knows said anorak?
Will post some pickies when I get her .

If you get REALLY stuck, I have a spare gearbox...

Sounds like a nice car: I started with a Spit Mk3 when I was 18 (like you could afford to now!) but I don't think I could go back after the TVR.

One of the car mags (Practical Classics?) a few years back did a 'Best of' article: the Spitfire was in the section 'Hairdresser', the TVR 350i was 'Hairy Chested' and the 390SE upwards were 'Hairy Arsed'....

You have to think what kind of anorak lets the gearbox get in that state ?? it must have shown signs of distress b4 now. there is alot of wedges out there for sale so go look at a few more first.

Good Luck, and do you know what your getting into ?? all wedge owners are barking mad
