Is Mount Everest the tallest on Earth?
Discussion
Not a conspiracy theory.
The foothills of Everest are on land.
Is there a mountain with its foothills under the sea so th speak.
Is there some peak or island poking out of some ocean that if measured would exceed the 29,000ft of Everest?
I know the Mariano’s trench is over 30,000 ft deep so anything poking out of the Pacific around there would qualify.

If measured from its submarine base, Mauna Kea in Hawaii of over 1km higher than Everest

This always seems bizarre to me, and a desperate attempt for Hawaii to claim a record. Why not just measure Everest from the base of the Marianas trench?
ETA reading the Guinness article linked above they paddled for miles from the deep spot to Hawaii and then cycled miles across the actual foothills. It's b
ks IMO.
