Not a conspiracy theory.

The foothills of Everest are on land.

Is there a mountain with its foothills under the sea so th speak.

Is there some peak or island poking out of some ocean that if measured would exceed the 29,000ft of Everest?

I know the Mariano’s trench is over 30,000 ft deep so anything poking out of the Pacific around there would qualify.

yes

If measured from its submarine base, Mauna Kea in Hawaii of over 1km higher than Everest

This always seems bizarre to me, and a desperate attempt for Hawaii to claim a record. Why not just measure Everest from the base of the Marianas trench?

ETA reading the Guinness article linked above they paddled for miles from the deep spot to Hawaii and then cycled miles across the actual foothills. It's bks IMO.

When they first calculated the height of Everest it came out at exactly 29,000 feet. Because they assumed that everybody would think that was just a guess they added 32 feet to make it a seemingly calculated 29,032 wobble

Everests peak is highest above sea level. I think that’s for certain.

It actually isn't. Chimborazo in Ecuador is closer due to the earth's equatorial bulge.

Isn’t it the Ecuadorean one is furthest from the centre of the earth, not closest to space?

Sure I read/heard/saw in facebook/made up that Everest isn't the tallest climbable. Like it is the tallest but you don't climb much of its total height due to the mountain range it sits in.

Can't remember the biggest climbable mountain

Make sense? No. Okay
