Always loved these since I drove Talon Sportscars’ demo car around Brands Hatch about 12 years ago, hilarious fun! This was the last car converted by Talon, and has lots of good bits on it. Not a spec of structural rust on the 40,000 mile shell, a 160 VVC engine with PG1 gearbox and torsen diff. Fully polybushed, individualised suspension, uprated anti roll bars, huge 300+mm Reyland AP Racing brakes, special 15” Compomotive wheels to clear the brakes, MGF quick rack, full Safety Devices roll cage, bucked seats and harnesses, composite bonnet. Lots of other bits too including a weld-in coil over suspension kit in the boot if I fancy converting it at a later date. Cannot wait for a proper drive one MOT’d, only driven it on the farm but it’s a ferocious little bugger….. Will put it on the scales to see how much it weights, but I am guessing not much over 800kgs. I will polycarbonate the windows too to shed a few more kgs. Power-to-weight must be close to 200bhp-per-ton.
I am going to sprint / hillclimb it, but my ultimate goal is to “backdate” it externally to the red MG Metro Turbo I had in 1991. It’s basically a bolt-on panel swap from Rover 100 to Metro Turbo, only sticking point is a Mk1 Metro Turbo body kit is like rocking horse poo, I never realised! So if anyone knows where there is one please let me know!!!! Cost me £2,750.
