Buying advice for a newbie

Going to take the plunge but need a prod in the right direction. Considering a well known black 400se from these very pages or a slightly cheaper V8s pre-cat with considerably more miles. I will only use the car on sundays in fair weather and not really bothered(yet) about running costs. Whats gonna give me the biggest grin and the least frustration - seriously worried about lack of PAS on the S though.....please help.
Can't comment on the V8S, but I'm more than pleased with my 350i. I've had mine over three years. Permanent grin (Cheshire Cats look miserable by comparison). Starts on the button. Only one breakdown, but that was my own poor work the night before. My son wants to drive it every time he comes to visit and it's the only car my wife has ever taken an interest in.
The wedge is more refined, in terms of handling bumps and general buzzing noise's but this is mainly due the fact its some 150Kg heavier, due to the thickness of the fibreglass and the fact its a bigger car ( with side impact bars - the S has none)
In terms of go the S should be slightly quicker due to the weight advantage and is easier to work on.
Very similar cars really, I'd go along to your local TVR club meet and see if you can blag a ride in each, most folks will be happy to oblige.

. I had an S quite a few years ago and it is a pretty car, from most angles, an underated classic im my humble opinion.
BUT the Wedge is just nasty, built purely to annoy people (including the driver sometimes!). it screams attitude.
It sets off car alarms when passing, it makes old people and small kids run for the hills, its loud and brash. It's 'in your face' aggresive angular 80's styling sets it apart from the rest of the crowd including the rest of the more mundane TVR family.
You get an S and after a few years you will hanker for something bigger and nastier. Get a Wedge and save yourself a couple of years wait!. (Pirate flag optional).

I can't help it, I just like Wedges. With that attitude you won't even make day 2 of pirate school!
If I won the lottery, I wouldn't bother buying a new Saggiarse jobbie, I would have mine taken apart and put back together properly
