Driving back from my Mother's this evening, making steady progress, when a very large dog fox ran out into my path. No chance to miss him, almighty bang, check gauges, steering all seems OK so kept going as only 3 miles to home. If he's still in there it's best I do the removal at home. When I got home he was well wedged inside the bonnet up against the fan. I'll not show the photo of him but you can see the damage to the lower intake valance and how much it has pushed the bonnet over to one side. Also the fan has tagged the radiator so I'll have to get it refurbished. Having just had it off the road for three weeks it now looks like it will have to spend some more time being laid up. Oh for foxx sake.

I do not wish to sound a note of doom here but repairs to the front ends of the S are effing expensive - mine had (relatively) tiny damage and would still have been an insurance write-off if I wasn't paying for it myself. I know of at least one other in the same position.

Mine was written off for some fibreglass damage and hinges gone.

Are there any new front ends or if you break one is it game over?

You can still buy them from TET mouldings in Poulton le Fylde - I am having one fitted to mine at the moment.

One good thing that came out of this is that since I've had the rad re-cored it now runs 10 degrees cooler. I have not had chance to check how far the cracks have spread but the hinges seem OK, the offside pivot bolt took the impact
