I have fully comprehensive insurance on a Fisher Fury and today my chassis has snapped at the front section (2" steel tube) after driving over a bump in the road, strange I know! it must have been weakened previously.

Anyway can anyone tell me if my insurance company will cover me for this, as I presume it's not going to be a cheap repair?

Thanks in advance, any advice would be appreciated.

I suppose it would be wether the council could be held liable over the bump or wether you were just careless and hit the bump too hard?
If you could prove the bump is a risk to others aswell and is genuinly dangerous i would think you have a case.

Personally i feel YOU should be liable for any damage to your car not caused by an accident or a third party as otherwise everyone would be claiming for anything they can find. We live too much in a blame and claim society and not enough people hold themselves responsible for their own actions.

Absolutely not a cats chance in hell.

Would you expect them to pay if the engine blew up? or if a wheel bearing failed? Nope, didn't think so. How is a chassis failure any different to either of those?

Your best bet is to drive it into a tree quick - then you would've been covered!

That's what I thought, I just didn't want to pay-out for it, to find out later that I could have had it done on my insurance.

thanks anyway

I wouldn't dream of attempting to claim off your insurance - at best you would get nothing, at worst you will get nothing and be paying more for the next 5 years for 'making a claim'.

Can't see it costing too much to have it welded up.
