Hi all,

I have seen Porsche have released the pcm plus for the 997 which has car play.. great news

Any recommendations on where to buy it from and have it fitted? Happy to go to a main dealer but I also think friends Porsche had the first unit.

Prices and experience feedback would be great

Thanks

Pete

There is a thread already on here for someone who has recently had it installed. Looks neat, but CarPlay is a wired connection which is pretty naff.

Its brilliant compared to PCM2. The wire for Apple Car Play really not an issue as it charges your phone at same time. Works with steering wheel and dash on 997. Radio crystal clear and hands free telephone much improved. Normally 1500 GBP plus fitting circa two hours labour but there an OPC out there think maybe Leicester doing a special deal at 1250 GBP at the mo.

I just had PCCM+ installed on my 987. Very pleased and a huge improvement on the original PCCM unit. Tonbridge OPC did mine. As mentioned, USB connection isn’t as neat as BT, but it does charge the phone. With an 8” lightning or USB-C cable it’s reasonably neat and using Waze gives me speed trap information in France which is useful

Doesn't it rather defeat the object of having Carplay if you still put your phone in a honking great holder?

On a rennline magnet - no holder or honking - you could just as easily use cubby hole in front of gear stick wink

I guess they are old cars - I have a 997 - so it looks 'period' having your phone on a holder and a wired connection?

Maybe so!

For me the main reason I put a modern head unit into my 996 was to neaten up the cabin and get rid of the bolted on phone. Each to their own, I suppose.

Isn't it possible to have the wired connection hidden in the glovebox or storage cubby between the seats?. Agree, it doesn't look great to have a wired connection sticking out of the front.
