Hello,
One of the rear springs on my trusty vw touran 2009 has snapped and after many years of taking it to the garage to be repaired I’m going to go back to fixing it myself ( hopefully ). I’ll change both while I’m doing it.

The question I have is where is the best place to order them from and which are considered good ?. I have priced up a pair from euro parts ( sachs £98 ) but not sure if they are any good ? There are lots of different makes so a bit confused of what to get.

Thank I’m advance for any help/ recommendations I know there are some knowledge people on here.

Sachs should be fine.
Be careful with springs under compression. I am not sure what the rear suspension configuration is on a touran so you may be okay just lowering the bottom spring mount using a Jack to release the spring but whatever the setup take care.

Thanks for the help chaps, Ordered the springs 👍 I used to do a bit of spannering with my mates back in the 80’s 90’s ,escorts, talbot sunbeams , manta’s , parts were cheap and readily available ( so were cars ) It’s a bit expensive now just for some springs hehe

I’ve watched a few on YouTube do it and it looks pretty straightforward, I’ve also ordered a couple of new bolts as there’s 14 years of solid rust round them smash one bloke had a fancy spring compressor thingy and just squashed the spring ,lifted it out and then put the new one in clap but I don’t have one of those so I’ll just drop the swingarm . Thanks again .

That’s one job I wouldn’t tackle on the drive!
Last year one snapped on my 2014 Skoda
Cost me £180 to have the pair replaced at a tyre place

Was that £180 for the labour or did that include the parts too ?

The rears are easy to do. I would recommend a 4 wheel alignment after doing so though. I replaced the rears in my wife's Tiguan and it ate through the inside of the rear tyres in short order, obviously some geometry change that I hadn't expected.

Check to see if you need any special tools. I did front springs on a Golf and needed spline drive bits for the first time ever.
