Veneer to Ally dash...

Just bought an Ally dash off of FleaBay - needs a spot of polishing and a good lacquer before fitting, but i paid just shy of £40.00 for it :hehe:

Will let you know how i get on with the refit etc...

Wood veneered will probably end up on Flea Bay at somepoint...

The Chimaera dash is quite easy in comparison with the Griff one... after which you'd suffer tourettes

All the best with the fitting, I understand it can be a bit of a bugger just ask DParpotta!!
Luckily mine was put in by the dealer I bought the car from, but they do look lovely! Post a pic when you are done!!

Nothing is as hard as getting the Manifolds off, i can assure you of that !!

I need a wood dash for my Chim. If yours isn't cracked (and its the same style) I'll buy it off you!

Erm, that looked to me like all he'd done was pull all the cracked vaneer off.

Someone mentioned on here that if you pull the cracked vaneer off and then polish it up with a wire brush on a drill you can get the same effect.

It was, but i have a really good dash (uncracked/unmarked) and this suited my needs...

Why would anyone pull off perfectly good veneer ??

I did it this way becasue i knew someone would need a new walnut veneer dash, so far i've had 4 mails from the PH massive

I'm pretty sure thats what the previous owner did with mine. Apart from some miniscule gaps you cannot tell! IMHO looks the nuts and doesn't tarnish, pic on my profile if your interested.

Yours looks like a much later dash to mine, nice all the same though

Mines got Yellow dials so i'm hoping it will really set them off

Bloody hell, the result is better than I expected and really suits that colour combo, now where's my drill

Dont forget that his is also a face lifted car, got a different dash to us, but the effect is similar i grant you...

Might well have been me the other day, Radio dash finished and reinstalled, not yet got around to the top bit yet (bit wary of it) but pleased as punch with results so far :

Word of warning when taking the old dash off. Be careful with the LED's on the heater as they are hard to get out without breaking. Also the wires from the heater to these LED's are very fragile. Good luck, it took me a fair few hours and a trip to Austec to get new LED's fitted. Looks the muts nuts when done.
