given the difficulty and expence of finding a good servo for the cerb,chim and griff has anyone looked at the possibility of using a different one. lots of other ford parts are available cheaply.
the biggest problem would likely be the position of the fluid reservoir. however this could be fixed in place and piped to the master with hose as is done on many modern cars

Possibly missing something that's resulted in this being a stupid question, but what's wrong with this one?

Hmmm. There's a few critical specs/dimensions I guess. Diaphragm diameter, mounting stud arrangement, alpushrod length to the brake pedal (thread less of an issue as changing the clevis wouldn't be hard but the length would need to be within the range of adjustment) and the correct gap between the pushrod and the brake master cylinder. If you have a new one off the car providing some measurement for other people would be helpful.
