.....i like to plan.

I have worked out that by April / May next year i will have saved (been allocated by the good lady) c.£13,500 and i want to blow it on a weekend car (specifically an Elise) - i have had an S1 before, and now want an S2 (in black).

Do you think with depreciation being what it is i will find something within my budget?

Thoughts?

Sounds like a good sized deposit on a 111R!

If you can buy it a bit earlier before prices start firming up with the good weather then you should be able to get a decent car in a private sale.

I wish i could do it earlier but it looks unlikly - im guessing i will be looking at a 51 plate 30k car.

The problem is that i want black and i ahvnt seen that manay - there is one on autotrader now but it has done 47k.

You will definately get a car for £13,500. I paid exactly that last Novemeber for a very very very early 2000 X reg S2 with 19k on the clock.

I think you're spot on in thinking you'll probably get a 51 plate for that money. Black does seem to be rare though I agree. Just keep your eyes peeled and be prepared to travel. I went nearly 200 miles for mine.

November / December / January wouldbe the best time when its dark wet and horrible.

You wont have much fun with the car for a few months but there may be a few more people desparate to sell.

Dealers may also be offering some good deals.
