China practicing invasion of Taiwan
Discussion
Forgive me if there is already a post I did search a couple of pages.
In the news China doing war games again for thr invasion of Taiwan.
Didn't the Egyptians do this constant practice so much so that they did actually invade their neighbour they all thought it was another exercise so never alerted anyone?

It would have to be a force bigger than that on d Day.
Without the element of surprise.
With modern defensive weapons.
I for one would not like to be on any invading ship.
As was the case with Ukraine which the west didn't do, American should put forces in Taiwan and then pose the question 'what are you going to do about it?'.

They watched Russia take an absolute pounding when invading Ukraine, become the most sanctioned country in the world and will probably never fully recover from this.
Plus the fact that Taiwan's army is far superior to Ukraine's and they are also heavily backed by America.
Not to say that it will never happen, but it's a war that China could very easily lose and see it's economy collapse.

You don't think America is trying hard enough to start WWIII already on this side of the planet? Without the element of surprise.

Not sure what they're waiting for. Not even the US is going to stand up to them when it will have little impact over there.
Don't they produce something like 90% of the world's semi-conductors?The thing is, a typical electronic system has lots of chips and you can’t build it if even one is missing. So it might as well be 100%
The world would be pretty completely stuffed if Taiwan got turned off overnight.

As per Russian energy, we really should try and ween ourselves off Chinese production and goods.
Like it or not, China are the future potential enemy, as Russia have been for he last 70 years.
Have you tried re-inserting the genie back in the bottle?Like it or not, China are the future potential enemy, as Russia have been for he last 70 years.
The 'global' economic/political ambition of previous western Governments, both here and across the pond, to offshore mass production and other services, to attempt bringing China (and others, including Russia) into the 'family business', has led us to where we are now. Ukraine should be a wake-up call to spread manufacture and delivery of products in more than one country or region, and the old adage of placing all eggs in one basket, is a proven model from time immemorial!
Taiwan:
Is mountainous with Rivers. Ideal for defence.
Will require a vulnerable invasion fleet to assemble over months to Transport a million men over 150 miles.
Has a nuclear program and could create a nuclear bomb in a few months and a nuke in the middle of an invasion fleet would be effective.
Has a better military that Ukraine.
Has been preparing for an invasion for 45 years.
China:
Imports 80pc of its energy and food.
Has a navy that is a mix of Photoshop and obsolete kit.
Has an untested army equipped with copies of Russian kit.
Has the example of Russia's catastrophe in Ukraine.
Nothing's certain but I don't think Xi is dumb and misinformed enough to try an invasion.
