My drivers side door bounces back when I close it. The doorlock does not look strange and seems to be open. The door hits the doorlock and bouncesback as though it hits a closed doorlock. Does this look familiar? I had this problem before I took the car apart for retoration. I am now building up the car and the problem is still there.

What happens if you push it closed with your hand, does it still not latch?
As far as I know, the rubber seal and door card are all part of the process of ensuring the door both opens and closes correctly. Sometimes, if my door card isn’t positioned perfectly, the door won’t catch.

You can check the lock operation with a screwdriver replacing the door catch. I've had to take 1 of mine off and clean 20+ years of dirt out of it to free it up. Other possibilities I can think of are a loose door catch so it never engages with the lock before the door seals bounce the door open again, or maybe a failed solenoid, bout something else would have to have happened first for it to get out of sync and then the solenoid fails with the door open but the lock closed.

At the moment there is no door seal. Door cards are on the door. At the moment I have no spare battery, so difficult to test the solenoid. I have a blue/red wire and a blue wire running to the solenoid. Which one is which?

If I fiddle with a screw driver and then push the door, rather then throwing, it does close. When "throwing", which has to be possible, it does bounce back.

If I fiddle with a screwdriver, the lock closes. If I operate the solenoid by hand, the lock also clicks open.

It is all in the latch. When I think of it I should have come to this conclusion earlier.... It was pure mechanical. It has a new solenoid. Hope it will last for years....
