Firts post in a long time so forgive and correct any poor ettiquete or if I've posted in the wrong place. Be gentle & don't throw rocks.

Right, that said, I've got myself in a bit of a prepicklement. I've just carried out a brake overhaul of my 2012 MX5 Sport Black, a 2.0 Sport Tech by any other name.

Problem I now have us the master cylinder has popped. We confirmed this yesterday when I took the lid of the reservoir off whilst I got my Wife to press the brake pedal, I expected to see fluid recirculating in the reservoir but no, as soon as she touched the pedal fluid spurted clean out of the reservoir, that and the sinking pedal of doom.

I therfore need a NEW master cylinder, problem being they seem akin to rocking horse poop.

I've ordered one from MX5 Parts but they have a 3-4 week - indefinite lead time on them, meanwhile the clock is ticking towards a big family holiday in France for our 40th Wedding anniversary, how that happened I'll never know, naturally the '5 is the car of choice for us.

I've even looked for high end aftermarket kit, Pagid, Febi-Bilstein etc but nothing to be had to date.

  • ***I could get a repair kit and do a refurb but not keen as the question remains as to why the seal on one circuit has become damaged (lip on the bore that whilst bleeding had caught the seal?) nor do I want to fit second hand of unknown provenance.*****
I've posted on a few '5 FB pages and have been frustrated at people steering me towards or offering me used kit, I've never used second hand brake kit in many decades and I'm not starting now especially as the car is heavily modded all round and supercharged to 260+ bhp/200+lb/ft, so please don't offer me or guide me in that direction.

So, there's the background folks, looking to see if anyone can put feelers out to see if they can find one available, anywhere, must be for a 2.0, RHD and with DSC, there are differences across the range.

A big thanks in advance.

Nothing to add apart from...

1) Oh, bks.
2) Have you tried asking on MX-5 Owners Club?
3) That is the best colour, ever, for a NC

Could you not buy a repair kit and either have a go yourself or whip it out and drop it off to a mechanic for a refurb?

Use a repair kit and see how you get on. Did you do a brake bleed by pedal pressing instead of a bleeding device?
