Hi all,

We currently do self storage in Glasgow but are looking to utilise some of our space to offer caravan storage. Trying to research it a little more but we already have secure 24/7 PIN code access, CCTV, hard standing and what we think is a competitive price.

Is there anything else caravan owners look for when selecting a storage location?
Also does anyone know Facebook groups or anything we could join to showcase what we've got?

If you can get Cassoa Gold status that would be really good, rest sounds bang on
Wherever I've been storage is normally sold out eith a waiting list so it should go well

I think youve covered all the essentials r.e CCTV and plenty access. It will now all depend on your pricing being competitive.

I was paying £150 a year for hardstanding on a farm with good access but no CCTV. At the time another place with CCTV, gates etc was around the £300 mark.

If you price yourselve competitively youll be busy as many folk dont have room to store it at home these days.

Vermin control.

Ask me how I know about that….

Access to facilities like power and waste disposal are handy and maybe a little area where you have a raised gantry to allow cleaning?

People look for Cassoa accreditation and will pay for a good site.

Down south we were paying £600 per annum for a so-so site with gold accreditation and good security and there was a healthy waiting list.

We already have a no perishables policy in the storage units already and pest control.
People will still complain when they find mice have made a nice nest in their belongings next to their wedding cake and dog food though!

Thanks for the info guys, seems we are on the right track just about marketing it now!

It costs me £900 a year for external storage at a cassoa site down South.

Super secure and great facilities for washing, tinkering, rubbish skip, servicing etc.

We’re considering a seasonal for around £2700ish and another £400 for out of season storage.

The only problem with seasonal is it’s not cassoa obviously, so my insurance will rise a fair bit and I’d need to add some additional security to the wheels.
