UK v Europe & Petrol v Diesel Prices

What's going on with diesel prices here in the UK?

Average according to confused.com is for diesel to be 15p a litre more.

I was over in Italy this week and found myself being confused.com as diesel was about 10-12 cents a litre less than petrol.

Have I missed a taxation change? Or is diesel being profiteered at retail level in the UK?

Diesel in European countries is taxed less than petrol.

What I did notice though when I was in France is that there is only a small differential between normal diesel and posh grades. Total Excelluim for instance was 6c more compared to the 15p-20p difference here in the UK.
