TfL ULEZ checker

Hi,
So I've just checked the TfL website to see if my car was showing as compliant which it should be as its a 2019 BMW 530i Petrol.
However, despite around a month ago of it showing as compliant it is now showing as a charge o £12.50 per day(?)
If I check all the other cities that have ULEZ (Birmingham, Bristol etc) it still shows as compliant. I have changed the registration plate on it and it now has my personalised plate from my previous car on it but his was done around 2 months ago and all the car details show up correct when registration is entered. I would assume that it would be compliant being a 2019 2.0 litre petrol engine that emits around 135 g/km.
Anyone else have any suggestions as to why it seems to have changed how to correct it or am I worrying about nothing?

Maybe your personalised number is confusing the site. Was that number originally associated with a non compliant car?

Yes it was on a none compliant car before. I'll leave it for a week or so and see if it updates.

What result does it give it you put in your previous registration?

To prove your vehicle meets the ULEZ standards:
A letter from the vehicle manufacturer's homologation department stating the vehicle's Euro standard or a conformity certificate

The whole system is a mess. I have a 2002 Golf GT TDI which in no way should be compliant but it comes up as such and I've never been charged. I think it might be to do with the fact it was initially registered overseas and has slipped through the net. One of the few Mk4 TDIs you'll see on the road in London now! My 2014 BMW 330d is of course not compliant despite having a lower tax band. Great job, Khan, keep it up.

You may be chemically correct on what exactly constitutes a ‘bad’ £12.50 car vs a ‘good’ £0 car as I’m not sure what the rules are and it sounds like the council have no idea either but I’m right on the money.

I'll add that the website to pay the tax appears to be deliberately misleading in that it allows you to select the wrong tax/fee with the risk of being fined for making the wrong decision.

Why isn't it configured where you enter registration and destination address at the start and it calculates the fee due?

It must have this data to be able to fine you for non-payment.

My car is still showing as non-compliant with ULEZ following a plate change nearly two years ago.

They never reply to my emails to ask how to correct it.

I’d not care except their scammy charge is levied on the area famous for its low emissions Heathrow Airport.

My 19 year old Z4M and my 5 year old M4 are both ULEZ compliant. You can drive into London and park just to the West of Westminster for free just like all the MP's do.

Indeed. If only I would get 4 plus holiday luggage in my ‘03 996!

Or just maybe TFL could use the same system as DVLA which maps the reg to the car practically instantly after a plate change.

No, it's all about the emissions, just not CO2 emissions. That's why 19 y/o Bentleys, Ferraris and Aston Martins and the like are compliant and don't cost you any money.

How can it be all about the money when 95% of all cars on the road don't have to pay?
