M1000R - So impressed I've ordered one.

Had a test ride of the new BMW M1000R on Saturday
and it's bloody fantastic.
The demo bike had been run in but they had left the 9k rpm limiter in place. Even up to the 9k rev limit (which I kept hitting), it had useful extra grunt compared to my S1000R.
The M has 210bhp (at the crank) and weighs 199kg wet. It revs to over 14,600 rpm vs about 12,500 for the S1000R.
The brakes are even better (master cylinder) than those on the S1000R and with the wider, flat bars plus the forged ally wheels turn in is a bit crisper.
On the minus side the bar end mirrors are terrible at speed on anything other than completely smooth tarmac and due to the new emission requirements, the pops and bangs on overrun that my bike does are mostly absent.
I wasn’t expecting to be so impressed. How much better than my current bike could it really be? But I got off after the test ride and had that "got to have it" feeling very strongly, so I’ve done a deal and my new bike should be available mid May.
I’m going with the white Motorsport spec (as per the demo bike) and taking all the carbon bits, crash protection, belly pan, QR fuel cap, Racefit end can etc off my bike & swapping them on to the M.
The black, Competition spec bike does look a bit sexier but it's another £5k, the majority of that down to the carbon wheels, which I'm not convinced about having given the state of our roads.
I've got a sensible PX offer on my S1000R but can sell it privately so I'll try to list it here shortly

They look like someone has fitted some very cheap home made crash bars!

I'm not sure about the wings, but everything else looks good !
I doubt they are all limited but I understand why a bike of this performance would be…I doubt you need to feel it at the redline to decide to buy it or not and suspect with a healthy deposit down you could try it conditionally without a limiter.I'm not sure about the wings, but everything else looks good !
