Steering rack replaced, now have brakes issue
Discussion
Wife’s evoque went in for a recall issue, bolts on the power steering pump to be replaced. Bolts turned out to be seized and subsequently entire rack required to be replaced. First time I drove it after this I could hear a bit of a drone/squeal from it and when I parked up and got out I could smell the brakes and would appear the rears have been binding a bit.
My question is would a steering rack replacement cause this at all? Car goes back in on Friday and I’m prepared for the dealer telling me it a completely separate issue. Coincidence or not?

both rears ? just one ?
And it never did anything like this before ?
Any lights on the dash ?
It's easy to say the two are in no way linked at all....and normally this is true.
However with stupid fancy car systems, stability control and other random crap that can apply the brakes to save us from stupidity......it's maybe not always so clear.
So perhaps if the steering angle sensor was not calibrated correctly after the rack change, the stability control which can apply individual brakes without your consent. Strange things are possible.
Although I'd expect if it was not happy, there might be a warning message of some sort.
So the two problems "should" not be related. But there is a very small chance they "might" be.
