The Driver User Experience

Now modern cars are computers first and cars second, what do people think of the user experience? This isn't about how well it drives but how good or bad the software that controls everything is.

One example, when the ignition is switched off does the car actually switch off i.e. engine off, displays blank, music off, etc or say turns the engine off and leaves everything on until you open the door.

Having recently upgraded the car to something 18 months old I am thinking WTF as nothing in the reviews said it was a software nightmare on wheels.
