Hi All

I have:

- PS4 Pro
- Gaming PC
- Switch
- Macbook Air M2

I work for myself, and sometimes during the day (perhaps lunch) I just fancy having a quick game of something for 10-15 minutes to get away from the screen (yes I know, irony). I work in the same room as the PS4 and Gaming PC but don't want to get out of my seat in case I miss something on my work PC.

So what would you do? I guess my options are:

1 - Browser-based game on the Mac. There was a text-based game I played to completion last year. Can't remember the name but it was ok, but no longevity. Not sure what else is out there.

2 - Use a controller/mouse on the Mac and play a native Mac game (I have PS4 and Switch Pro controllers)

3 - Stream from the PS4 to the Mac - is that possible? I have PS+ and loads of games.

4 - Stream from the PC to the Mac - is that possible? I have Steam, Game Pass etc.

5 - Use one of the online game streaming services on the Mac?

Appreciate all this info is probably out there, but I'm sure you have trodden this path already.

Thanks!

3 - Yes, PS Remote play

Works fine assuming connectivity is strong - Perfect if both PS4 and MacBook are ethernet connected

I also recommend USB connecting the PS4 controller as one less dependency on wireless (bluetooth).

If you have a second PS4 controller that you rarely use, perhaps worth having that to hand for your Mac to avoid having to link each time you decide t spin up PS4/Macbook

5 - Steam works fine on Mac, but Mac being Mac, there aren't anywhere near as many gaming options unfortunately.

I have found the steam streaming to mac from my windows PC pretty good for most things. Though if the gaming PC is nearby I would just use that instead

Don't forget that most iOS/iPadOS games will download/run on you M2 Mac...so you may find some quick-play mobile games are suitable.

Thanks all - set PS4 Remote Play up and it works really well. PS4 is wired on gigabit, Macbook floats around 200Mbps on WiFi so I'll get it connected via Ethernet.

PS4 remote play was going to be my suggestion too. I probably use the PS4 more on my iMac than normally, it works very well in my experience but I do have ethernet to both iMac and PS4 which I think helps.

A controller connected by USB to the Mac is my preferred option as it saves faffing with resyncing, unless you've got a spare controller you could dedicate to using with the Mac.
