Ticking noise from engine bay

Vauxhall Astra GTC 1.4 Turbo making a ticking sound from the engine bay. I believe it the injectors as when I put a screwdriver on the injector rail and put my ear to the screwdriver it is most loudest then.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue? I’ve seen it could be the hydraulic lifters but the noise is definitely louder at the back end of the engine at the injector rail.

If it is the injectors would you be concerned? I believe the car has done this for some time.

That seems far too loud to be an injector. A blowing exhaust header will often produce a very metalic sounding noise so I would check for that. If the exhaust manifold is clear of moving parts one way to find these is to start the engine from fully cold and run your hand over the exhaust to see if you can feel the blow. You will have a minute or so before the manifold gets too hot to touch.

Don't these engines run a cam chain instead of a belt?
Just wondering if it could be that, which really would mean getting it sorted asap.

Wouldn’t let me reply as this is a new account. Found the problem literally within 30 seconds after work yesterday it’s the purge valve
