Horizon parking invoice - ignore or not?
Discussion
We drop our daughter off at a Tesco in Sheffield at the start of her shift then return later to collect her. We are in the car park about a minute before and maybe 5-10 minutes when we collect.
Horizon have ANPR of our car entering then also leaving but 4.5 hours later. Therefore nothing of us leaving the site inbetween.
Meaning, the charge is invalid. We have been doing this since October and the worry is now around collecting and dropping her off in future!
Anyone else dealt with Horizon??
Thanks.

Can you evidence that car being elsewhere in the intervening period?
I'd just ask them to prove that the car had been in the car park for the duration (they can't) and that any other correspondence will be ignored.
Never name the driver (or hint at who it was). Alternatively ask your daughter to speak to their manager to get it cancelled/your registration added to their "no charge" list

Just gone through the same thing. Left at 9pm at night and dropped my step daughter off for work the next morning and they claimed i'd stayed overnight. I appealed online and stated the facts and that they needed to check their cameras. They sent me an email a few days later saying they had cancelled the charge and something about number plates sometimes being obscured etc.
I did speak to someone in Tesco though and they said to come in with the paperwork and a manager would be able to help.

Agree with this. I'd just ask them to prove that the car had been in the car park for the duration (they can't) and that any other correspondence will be ignored.

I once successfully appealed a case on holiday where the camera didn’t see me leave properly the first day. I just provided proof from the Hotel we stayed at, that my car was booked in their system for overnight parking.
My brothers business is in a trading estate where parking enforcement during certain times was introduced as people were parking in the marked out bays in front of the units at 6:00am to get a coach to London.
So, I have some sympathy for the landowners who use it as a last resort.
