I have an astra h with abs light on. Put the obd on it and pointed to o/s front so checked wire and both have rubbed through on drive shaft. The part that wahs worn through is only available with hub/bearing sensor assembly.

Has anyone had any experiance with cutting and joining abs wires back together?

I understand that they can be sensitive to resistance/ voltage changes so would just twisting the wires together work?

You need to make a proper sealed electrical connection and not just twist the wires together, but it's just a matter of joining the two broken ends of each wire back together and then securing them so they can't rub against anything.

If I was doing it I'd look to cut off the damaged end of each wire to get back to a conductor which was undamaged and free of corrosion, make sure the was enough length left that the wire wasn't going to pull tight as the suspension/steering moves, join the right pairs of wires with a solder seal connector and then strap the repaired wires down so they couldn't rub on anything.

Remember to check the other side too.

Damage looks too close to the hub to be able to stagger 2 soldered joints, another downside is that the original sleeving is flexible and soldered joints aren't, much flexing takes place takes place at the damaged part of the cable. Chances are that if you did manage to repair the cable it wouldn't last long

This any good?

Yea struggling for space and length to try and repair.
I would need to remove hub/bearing to get enough room to try and repair. So looks like i might as well fit new one.

Not worth the risk after going to all effort to remove it.

Thanks.
