- In no way do I condone speeding. This article is for information purposes only.

I don't tend so see that much speeding on the motorway.
Really? If I set the cruise control at 70 (which obviously I do
) and trundle along on almost any freely moving motorway, I reckon the rate of overtakes to passes is at least 10 to 1.As for the article, relatively harmless and raises a little chuckle at how life works. Probably get on board with some "responsible speeding" tbh.

But you read it.
Anyway, people who gave up should really have carried on for the last paragraph.
No, I read as far as the idiotic quote I posted. If they can get this simple fact wrong, what's the point of reading further?Anyway, people who gave up should really have carried on for the last paragraph.

ie, I STARTED to read it. There's a difference between starting to read something, and reading it.

His line "no-one voluntarily drives at under 70" is total horse****
If I'm in my Panda 1.2, I sit at about 65, above that, the fuel consumption really suffers, it's only a 1.2. The TVR is a different matter....
I also drive under 70 when I first join a motorway. It just seems the natural thing to do in the same way that the impression of speed changes by the time I leave a motorway. But once established on the motorway? Yea, 65 on cruise will do a lot of the time... Motorway driving is pretty boring regardless of what you do, and the road manners of other drivers tends to be better in lane 1 than lane 3 - plus the fuel savings means I feel I've earned the right to use the accelerator more heavily on drives that incorporate enjoyable sections of road.
After driving for a number of years on the road you can clearly categorise the drivers - there must be at least a dozen or more traits - at least
I drive as quick as I need to, to get to where I want in the same way when I go shopping I know exactly what I want and get my bits and leave without dallying around or talking to anyone in the tills - if I want chit chat I go to the pub
On the road I overtake slow drivers when I can, on Motorways I drive to 80 most of the time and move over to the inside lane when I should, its mind boggling the amount of people sitting around on lane 2 and 3 driving at 50 and 60, without a care in the world or any idea it seems of what is going on.
If you have a clear view of the road ahead its much better than having a view clouded by idiots taking up the place

Several contributors have expressed that even 70mph is pushing the limits of most (British) drivers. That's why the 70 motorway limit should be strictly obeyed. Their attitude makes me despair
