A friendly warning to anyone not in the know, that London congestion charges now apply in weekends and bank holidays, from 12-6pm.

Right, time to go pay the £90 fine.

Set-up auto-pay for your vehicle so you don't get fined.

It's a shame TFL have so much power, the congestion charge enforcement at weekends must have cost the London economy billions and far outweighs however much TFL have brought in.

Those on low/middle wages living outside the zone who would drive in to restaurants/shopping bulk at paying the extra £15 charge not to mention the societal impact of the charge leading to less visits to relatives.

How many people on low wages are driving into Zone 1 at the weekend for a restaurant visit?
The parking is exorbitant already.

Makes no difference to us (assume we are on middle wages but who knows) - public transport is cheap, frequent, and most likely quicker door to door, without the headache of having to find somewhere to park (and then paying for that too!) so we would never consider driving into zone 1 anyway for a night out, shopping, visiting relatives, etc.

Of course it does. He's have it apply 24/7 if he could.

Yeah, no one on low wages is driving into a city centre these days. Even when I was a kid we'd get the bus into town rather than pay for parking. Not forgetting the added bonus of Burger King vouchers on the back of the bus tickets laugh

Yeah, I had no idea and was used to the old regime, as an infrequent visitor. Unfortunately this was how I found out.

Yes. I appreciate I don't speak for everyone but I have lived in Zone 5 for the last 40 years and have literally never paid the congestion charge because I've never needed to.

Hopefully the revolt by the neighbouring councils will gain momentum along with the movement to remove the powers of these money grabbing lunatics .
More and more truckers and trucking companies are just refusing to take work in London . Too many restrictions, too expensive, nowhere to park or take breaks ,fines for vehicles that don't comply with the latest specification.

A friend of mine regularly travels to London to fit electric powered boilers, he now factors the cost of getting a parking ticket into any quote he gives to a customer along with congestion charges to make it worth his while doing it

Love to see any evidence of this. London is booming and tourist numbers are going back up. Very few Londoners drive in.

Go knock on Nr 10's door and all the questionable spending on pandemic "necessities"

TfL Statement - Update on Government funding settlement said:
"The support offered by Government left an unfunded gap in our budget, which we have been working hard to identify how we will fill. This work has made good progress and we are confident that we will achieve an outcome that allows us to balance our budget and maintain our minimum cash balance. We will need to progress with our plans to further modernise our organisation and make ourselves even more efficient, and we will still face a series of tough choices in the future, but London will move away from the managed decline of the transport network. We are grateful for the support of both the Mayor and the Government as we now set out to continue serving the capital and investing in safe and reliable services for the millions of people who need them."

London deliveries carry a large premium rate. But with so many charges not to mention indiscriminate fines (which are difficult to avoid), delivering to London makes little economic sense. And that is without the extreme stress of London so you arrive home exhausted.

Best to avoid London altogether - it's a nightmare...

Try Belgium, most of their towns etc now charge 35,00 euros if it's not eligible and you can buy a LEZ day pass up to eight times a year.
