Very nice! What I want to know is how you managed to arrange for the sunshine and light traffic today?

Enjoy, as they say.

Nice looking motor, good colour combo.

Looks like some good options have gone on board (GT3 style alloys, spts seats, arctic dials, alloy h/brake gearshift etc).

Out of curiosity does the clear "glass" between the seats come off or is it fixed?

cheers

DAZ

PS - On an earlier post you mentioned the dealer said do 800 miles then thrash it. My dealer told me the same, 800 miles at upto 4k revs. However this conflicted with the advice in the manual which was 1,800 miles and 5k revs. I combined the two doing upto 4k for the first 800 then up to 5k from about 1,200 to 1,800 miles. Just an idea to check I suppose?

The glass comes out and has a little case...so you can stick it in the storage box under the roll bars.

Never fear - I shall run the car in very carefully. The dealer recommended 500 miles at under 4K...avoiding constant revs too. The manual does indeed state 1800 miles "avoiding high revs especially
when cold"...so I'll be jolly careful until about 2K miles..gradually increasing revs etc.

Then I'm going to give it the Spanking it so richly deserves.

Well done my man !!

Looks superb - now go buy that "proper" Zymol kit and keep that lovely colour in the finest fettle you can muster !

I recommend Titanium - used on Emma's and hasn't acquired a single stonechip since.

Did you not have a deflector in the last one ? Have you gone for the full one with storage underneath ? Wheels look nice, and that's from Mr Seventeen Inches.

Whatever....well done Don. The red on the hoops is inspired. And hey - get a look at this weeks' Autocar - 9/10 - "The best roadster money can buy".

'Nuff said.

Thank you, Greg!

I am very, very pleased with the car. The two sales guys at the dealers were staring at it as we went through the handover. One was heard to say to the other: "That's beautiful, that is...." and I suspect a demonstrator is going to get ordered in my colour scheme!

Its all the clear lenses that do it. Previous model year Boxsters have the orange lenses which I think worked better with Silver and the darker colours than red and yellow. (IMHO!).

I'm also pleased with the interior...they were trying to get me to "lighten" the interior with the aluminium pack...but I just did the gearstick...which (IMHO) works better.

My old neighbour has his whole car Zymol'd professionally...yep...think I'll either do it myself with the kit or get someone in.

No Armourfend for me though...don't like the "seams".

Yes I have the full windstop and storage box - that's all part of the option. Same as on my last car. Have you ever seen a Boxster without the windstop/storage box...it looks *so* strange. Porsche put a net on the area as standard. But I've only ever seen one once - on a absolutely standard Guards Red Boxster with no options at all.

Don,

as an alternative to Zymol there are others out there as good.

There is Zaino which though fiddly to put on gives better results IMHO.
There is also Swissol which is awesome, I have been using it for a few months and it is fab. The agent for Swissol in the UK will also come to you for a day and bring your car up to concours standards.

PS. Just how did you get the 'right' weather for your delivery day? Don't remember seeing that particular option on the Porsche options list.

Its on the price list as a no cost option. Apparently the feature is unreliable and not available in all markets.

No I don't think she's a convert, actually. She is beginning to think that it might be time to invest in a Tuscan though. Thing is she *loves* her Chimaera and whilst its going strong and we can maintain it - why not keep it? We'll see.

She did like the new Porsche very much though...so I imagine it'll go into her work from time to time.
