Hey all,

Over the last few weeks our quiet little housing estate has seen a vast increase of anti social behaviour and general styness.

It all seems to be linked around one property and generally kicks off each evening.

The theme seems to be a fairly nice car pulls up (Merc or BMW) and sits there with engine running and music on loud for half an hour or so. Ether a person on foot or another car will pull up to the passenger window and then BMW/Merc will leave and the person/2nd car will dissapear further into the estate.

Shortly after we'll then have 3-4 st boxes rock up with loud mouthed young adults bouncing about the place and being generally anti social (racing down the street, swearing, screaming at each other etc) they come and go throughout the night.

One car isn't insured or MOT'd (reported but police weren't interested)

Three weeks ago we had armed response officers round the area and roads blocked as a member of the group decided to run around the parks with a machete.

Other than move (hard with the kids at school etc) is there anything we can actually do. As reporting a car parked up with its engine running isn't really a crime

Grumps.

It wont hurt to keep a log of all the activity, with photos/videos. At least that way, you can hand it over to the police with a bit of proof.

Any Neighbourhood Watch group active in the area? They tend to have better access to the "police ear" and certainly locally, they've got increased foot patrols with PCSOs to tackle anti-scoail behaviour.

The police will have very little interest in this whatsoever, it’s just something we have to accept as ‘OK’ in our modern culture.

This stuff was a regular feature of the last area I lived, the police would regularly just drive past two cars clearly involved in a drug deal.

The local dealers house on our estate would get raided occasionally and they would be straight back at it almost immediately.

Try and find out who your local Police Neighbourhood team is instead and make contact with them directly, You will likely find they are more receptive than contacting your local forces call centre

Search online for any local council meetings where there is liaison with the police, and badger the councillors involved.

Nieghbourhood policing team.

Keep a log of events, preferably in a diary.

Report specifics via 101 or on your local polices webpage.

It all helps to build a profile etc.

Almost certainly affecting some innocent, or worse- causing injury.

Yeah Police call them small fry and allow it to happen as they know where they are.

Report it to police with as much info as possible. House, dates/times/vehicles/ descriptions of people.
It will be noted and at the least added to intel data. Depending on how it fits to intel it will be acted on appropriately. May not be immediate and overt but can lead to tracing the chain members up from the base level.
I took many such reports when in our ops room. You can ask to be contacted anonymously if worried.
Not doing anything allows it to continue unchecked.

From my limited knowledge of drug dealers, I'm surprised there is so much noisy behaviour. I would have thought they would like to be a bit descreet: surely it's in their interests to avoid brushes with the law(???)

Sorry, but no it isn't hard. What you're describing is an unsafe environment for children. The 'hard' thing, in my opinion, would be allowing my kids to grow up amongst that and just hoping that nothing happens to them and they're not tainted by what they're seeing on a daily basis.
I'm not saying moving is easy but in comparison to the alternative...

PS - Obviously I'd have some patience to see if it passes, you're talking about 'over the last few weeks' and that's hardly a permanent change. You might just be the flavour of the month for these individuals and they might relocate their business frequently.

My mum lives in the poshest street in our town and she had dealers doing similar stuff outside her house for a year or so. Police were less than interested. They moved on eventually.

Fingers crossed!

You usually seeing the palming a handover where they aren't in full view.
