I heard this interview on the radio this morning. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

The UK arrived at the logical decision before the EU and US did.

There was no way that the largest provider of cloud gaming services was going to be allowed to buy a game making company.

why?

Xbox have basically said the activison games would be available on platforms that currently don't have them and yet thats anti-competitive?

Glossing over the fact that the US and EU regulators are also opposing the takeover. UK just got there first.

Not overly invested in this, but should the push not be towards a universal publishing and availability on major platforms, i.e. stop Sony doing the exact same thing they're moaning about MSFT doing?

Yes, I think that's in the best interests of the consumer. Having said that the CMA can only really intervene when either company tries to acquire publishers and developers.

Here's what they said about their last gaming takeover in 2020

"But I'll also say in the model - I'm just answering directly the question that you had - when I think about where people are going to be playing and the number of devices that we had, and we have xCloud and PC and Game Pass and our console base, I don't have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to kind of make the deal work for us. Whatever that means."

The regulators should have acted decisively and together to not allow Microsoft to play politics as they are doing.
I think it's very tough to expect three different competiton authorities with different processes and mandates to coordinate completely, and I'm not sure it leads to a better outcome if its tends towards the lowest common denominator.

Kraft said a lot of nice things prior to their take-over of Cadbury's.

Guess what happened a short while after?

Kraft spoke with forked tongue.

Ok, because they say it is must be true.

It's inconvincible to imagine that titles like COD would no longer are available on anything other than Xbox and Windows.
There are lots of games only on playstation and not available on Xbox why is COD different? Sony have bought Bungie, now all Destiny 2 ( one of the biggest titles released in the last 10 years) content is free on Playstation not on Xbox, why does that not impact the market?

Hogwarts Legacy - Sony have paid for timed exclusive content that no one else will see for 12 months.

Call of Duty - Sony pay for exclusive content that no one else will see for 12 months.

Final Fantasy series - used to be available across all consoles, now it's Playstation only and only coming out on PC 6 months later.

Ghostwire, Fall guys, Sifo - Sony pay to have them as timed exclusives.

The list is massive of Sony doing exactly what they are saying Xbox will do and yet a company that markets it's console as the place to play exclusive titles is getting it's knickers in a twist about a game that is on all consoles.

Sony have Killzone, resistance and Socom that are part of their IP they could quite easily develop those.
