Back in the Aston family with a V8 Vantage S
Discussion
Having sold my 2009 V8V back in 2011, I’m finally back in an Aston with my ‘new’ 2017 V8VS.
Before the obligatory snap, I just wanted to say two things
Firstly, a great big THANK YOU to all the contributors on this forum. I’ve gleaned a wealth of knowledge from the FAQs and various posts - as well as read some posts that made me laugh out loud!
Secondly, if I can return the favour somehow, I’d be happy share thoughts on how Vantages compare to (say) 911s, XKRs and F-Types from my personal experience. As you’ll see from my previous garage (which I’ve not fully loaded up yet), I’ve had a few interesting things along the way.
Not 100% sure if a first PH post allows pictures, but if they do you’ll instantly see the first thing I did was ceramic coat and get the car detailed.

Welcome back OP, a Vantage S is a great choice.
What a great looking example of what is to my eyes strongly in the running for the most beautiful car of all time.
What does it say that after having already scratched the itch a long time ago, and then moved on to all sorts of supposedly better machinery, you still wanted another Vantage after over 10 years and even after all this time you still find it beguilingly beautiful?
Surely the credentials of a nailed-down future classic in the making…

Firstly - nice looking car, so congratulations.Secondly - Why? You'd had a Vantage, and also as you said (and having had a quick look at your PH "garage") a number of other pieces of interesting machinery. So what attracted you back to a Vantage?
I ask this with no criticism or surprise, being a V8V owner for over 4 years - just curious what created the desire to have another over other cars.
Looks lovely, congrats! When I sold my 08 manual V8Vr last year after 5 years of ownership I racked my brain to think of something different to replace within my budget- I too chose an S 14 plate in cobalt, kept with an Aston, had the twin plate clutch done with re-map, couldn’t be any happier, the exhaust sound from the s is intoxicating!
