1983 911sc cab turbo look - trouble with cold starts
Discussion
Hi - Just bought this car and just joined this forum. I hope to have fun with both - more with the car i hope - lol - Question about cold starts - seems the car really has a hard time getting going until it is warm - and when it does get going i can smell gas at times. The previous owner maintained the car himself for 15 years but didnt drive it much the last 2 - any corrolation between the two? Thanks in advance
Welcome to SC ownership!
Gas smell inside the car is most likely a leak from the exhaust into the heat exchangers - pushing carbon monoxide into the interior..I'd get that fixed fairly urgently!!
As for cold start - isn't this just 'cause it's really really cold in Canada??!!! No seriously, sounds like an automatic choke problem - if car has been home maintained then it probably needs a good fettle in a specialist garage somewhere.
Can' recommend anyone handy in Canada I'm afraid.
Best of luck
