Hi,

I'm looking at scissor lifts - automotech - but what I'd really like is a 4 poster. Physically it will fit into my space but will never beable to extend to full height.

The garage space is 11m x 3.3m. The roof is apex front to back, min height on the sides are 2.4m at their lowest point but central point of the roof area apex's to c3.6m.

I do have A frames in the garage but can position the 4 poster so that the roof a car would raise into the space between A frames.

Just wondering if anyone has a similar set up? Does it work or is it too tight? Car would be about 1m off the ground at full extension (perhaps enough to park a caterham sized car underneath/ontop .. which is another motivation to getting this type of lift).

Cheers

The answer is quite specific to the dimensions of the car and the shape of the roof supports. Are they prefabricated trusses? Some photos would make your question less vague.

Bear in mind the lift platforms are usually about 100mm thick so you need to factor that height in as well.

Automech wouldn't deliver up here so I went with another company who were most helpful. It was Garage Equipment on line but they were trading under a different name.

The Caterham has gone now but I can squeeze a Boxster under the Lotus with about 50mm clearance to Lotus roof and 50mm to Boxster screen if I drop the Boxster roof. There is an adjustment to the lift operation to fine tune it for height as it only lifts in 150mm approx stages.
