Do you get upset if your watch shows signs of being worn and used? I've worn my daily on an almost daily basis for 10 years and it shows signs of wear. I think the watch looks even better because of them and would never want them polished out.

Let's see your well used watches.

As with cars, new shoes etc it’s the first one that’s the most painful frown

I try and tell myself it is now MY watch/shoes/car/leather sofa etc as it has a unique mark but the truth is it’s gutting!

After a few months or years though as the marks increase one stops caring and can just enjoy it smile

Exactly laugh Selling, it's patina. Buying, it's scratches.

The patina is not mine, it’s older than me, the guy I bought it from was the chief underwater archaeologist on the Mary Rose and bought it new.

Lol I wanted to put in my will that I was to be buried in a suit of armour and a Casio digital watch. Just to fk with the heads of archaeologists in the future… but apparently it’s just “being stupid”

one of my biggest regrets in my time in watches is allowing my 16610 LV green bezel sub to be polished at service. I have a 16600 sea dweller of similar age that has been serviced but not polished and I much prefer seeing the battle scars on my sea dweller. The sub has had a visible amount of metal polished off and it's just not the same watch any more.

minimum 50 years old for patina.

before that it's just battle scars and/or negilgence.

Put it this way if someone tried to sell you a 30 year old Mercedes with dents and scratches, and called it "patina", wouldn't you just laugh ...
